FemShep's investigation of Cerberus' nefarious activities, while she struggles with questions about her own identity. This story is not super canon-y, but it fits with the Mass Effect 1 story, especially if you aren't too personally attached to your version of the characters. It aims to fill in the gaps and is told from Ash's (third-person limited) POV. It does contain very occasional blood-curdling swears. FemShep/Ashley (slowest burn).

Summary
If the relationship was an act on Kara Danver’s part, Katherine had to admit, she was an excellent actress. More likely, it was a hastily thought out relationship born from adoration, whose passion would soon fizzle out. Katherine despised the way Cat looked at the girl. She was too attached and all too likely to get hurt once Kara finally decided to look for someone her own age.
