Summary
The first thing Sascha has ever tried to rebuild was his parents’ marriage. They explained it to him gently: They still love each other, they will always care about each other, but sometimes, people grow apart. Love can’t hold everything together, they said. You can’t glue two pieces of wood together over and over again. It’ll come out wobbly and skewed, destined to fall apart.
Sascha didn’t understand it then. Love seemed to be the solution, right? To tend the wood with patience: Saw the wobbly pieces, measure the mistakes, sand the sharp edges. You don’t look at the piece of wood and abandon it. It came from a tree with wisdom beyond your lifetime: It deserved this patience, this time, and most importantly, this love.
He understands it now. It’s almost ridiculous to look back on his own naiveté, his child-like conviction that they would be friends forever. It was a stupid promise that children made to each other: We would be best friends forever.(Or: A possible continuation of the week in Sascha's POV after Montag 15:17.)

They should’ve closed the curtains. He should’ve stepped back, only for a moment, away from Simon’s warm and gentle touch, his soft lips, and loving gaze. Wilhelm should’ve said ‘Wait a second’, step back and close the fucking curtains.
But he was drunk and high, on drugs and love, and there’s one certain truth he hasn’t been able to ignore from the beginning: There’s nothing that matters, once Simon is there. Right in front of him. Nothing else, nobody exists. They don’t matter.

The image vaguely rings a bell in Eddie’s head. To Buck, he says, “Don’t you listen to a singer who wears glitter and cowboy hats?”
Buck’s face has steadily gone redder and redder and he’s stoutly avoiding eye contact, and oh, yeah, he so does, and yeah, this is so him. “…No.”

He reaches out for the bedside table on his side of the bed they share, clumsily unplugs his phone one-handed. The screen lights up to a familiar wallpaper, and it's right there, just above the top of Buck's head: Wednesday.
