No fic has ever made me feel so emotional but in a good way besides this. For every "what if" you might have regarding every supercorp interaction, there is a version in this fic that answers it. There's not a lot of fic regarding the fallout that I read knowing how emotional it is so the fact that I still loved this just shows how well the entire scene was written. It shows a Kara who has lost everything and is willing to - recklessly do ANYTHING just to fix what she has broken and to realize the mistakes she has made in the past without being defensive about it. Owning up to her wrongs. You also see an innocent Kara, who doesn't have enough confidence to wear the red cape yet still be a superhero in the mist of the lack of experience and lastly, a supergirl that has lost so much but gained a lot of growth along the way. A supergirl that is mature, unwavering but so honest gets to deal with the demons she'd kept inside - stopping her to finally experience the real happiness of having everything. It one of the fics that touches your soul. Must rea!

“Kara,” Lena’s voice called for her again, softer this time. Finally, her eyelids fluttered open, blue eyes staring directly into green. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
She could cry (and she was not very confident she hadn’t already), but she stopped herself as the words I can't look at you anymore without my heart breaking rang in her mind. Instead, she simply shrugged, even as her heart broke at seeing the warmth in Lena’s eyes directed at her again for the first time. “What was there to tell?”
“You told the DEO not to ask for my help. Why not?”
She sighed, not wanting to have this conversation at the sink. But Kara thought it made sense, for her to continue not getting what she wanted. “Why did you come?”

Lena finds out Kara is Supergirl, they have a fall out, and then Kara loses her powers indefinitely.

Supergirl narrows her eyes, more to herself than anything, before a satisfied grin draws itself on her mouth. “I would hope so.”
“Why did you do it?”
“It was your birthday.”
“Don’t you know who I am?”
The caped hero twists her body so that her legs criss-cross and she’s now facing Lena.
“Why, you’re Lena Luthor."

“Okay. What’s your name?”
Lena’s response is knee-jerk. “None of your damn business.”
Supergirl runs her fingers through her hair. It sticks up wildly near her temple, and Lena can see a slight cowlick. It’s strangely humanizing. “Look, my boss isn’t going to like that I’m working with an unknown as it is. If we’re going to work together, I at least need something to call you.”
When Lena shakes Supergirl’s hand, she feels the warmth of victory when the hero seems shocked at the firmness of her grip. But alarmingly an even stronger warmth radiates from their joined palms, spreading up her arm; Lena pulls her hand back faster than what’s generally considered polite, curling it into a fist.
“You can call me Kieran.”
