Screw it, she’s had a few.
"You know how I like it," she says, and it’s a damning accusation. Carol’s been reduced to an anomaly, an experiment or zoo exhibit that everyone on earth gets to gawk at through Zosia’s eyes.
Zosia has her patented the-world-is-brighter-on-the-other-side cult smile in place. The initial statement hadn’t been a question but Zosia dutifully answers anyway. "Yes." It’s quiet, certain. "We know a great deal about you." In the ensuing silence she asks, "Is there something I can do for you, Carol?"
"Do you want to have sex with me?" she blurts without even looking at her.
Zosia smiles. "Of course, Carol," she says as if it's obvious.
It's not.
Carol looks at her then. "Can you ever say no to me?"
They both know the answer.

She’s still grieving and it’s been months since Carol’s felt another’s touch. She’s only human...and the only human, at least in her vicinity.
