“Victim is Charles Dumont. Three gunshot wounds to the chest. Looks like an attempted robbery. There was a case of bourbon with a bottle missing and we found Charlie’s wallet tossed a few blocks from here. And Eddie?” Athena stopped just as she got to the door and turned him with a serious expression on her face. “There’s a witness.”
Her frown dipped under the professional mask she was known for and Eddie caught the flicker of concern pulling at her composure.
“You know him?”
Athena pressed her lips into a tight line and nodded.
“Evan Buckley. He’s the bartender here. He was helping Charlie restock tonight when he heard a noise and saw it happen.”
Homicide Detective, Eddie Diaz, is called in to investigate the murder of a local shield and ladder bar owner. There he meets his only witness, Evan "Buck" Buckley.

Summary
Steve's two closest friends are an anxiety ridden lesbian and a chaotic metalhead that people whisper about on the streets. Steve often got funny looks when he was out with his little trio, thinking "what the hell is he doing with those two". The thing is, Robin and Eddie are the only people that really got it. They had all been through hell together. Him and Robin twice now. Steve couldn't imagine leaving them, even if a few years ago he'd laugh at anyone that would say this was his life now. Each of them were lonely, and they each filled that void in different ways.
After going to see Labyrinth, Steve learns more about Eddie, something he didn't expect. Through new experiences and time spent together, they find their shared loneliness can be solved by one another. New bonds are formed, relationships strengthen and secrets begin. Through this and with Eddie's help, Steve finds the part of him he'd been hiding away for so long.

Eddie stops him again, this time by holding his face. Steve feels Eddie’s thumb moving over his cheek, he feels the cool metal of his rings. He feels everything except what he needs.
‘I’ve never loved anything the way I love you, Steve Harrington,’ Eddie says, dark brown eyes moving between Steve’s own. ‘This isn’t the moment, sweetheart.’

He barely felt Steve’s hands on him in what felt like hours later. He opened his eyes, lashes wet and sticky on his cheek. He stumbled and stopped playing, reverb screeching throughout the too-quiet Upside Down version of his shoddy trailer. He looked up and found Nancy Fucking Wheeler staring at him, eyes decidedly fixed on his. She looked relieved, tears falling down her face as Steve stood shoulder to shoulder with the two of them, breaths heaving. She jumped at him, and Eddie flinched out of reflex as her arms wrapped around his neck, her petite frame trembling around his. Eddie’s guitar was stuck between them, painfully pressing into his side. Steve met his eyes from over her shoulder, giving him a grateful nod. Eddie felt like he couldn’t catch his breath, but Nancy was safe for now, Steve and Robin and the kids wouldn’t hate him for not being able to save her, and-
“Not that I should have to say this, but guys, get up here NOW!” Dustin screeched through the gate, breaking their quiet reprieve.
