Summary
Akutagawa’s hand slipped lower. His belt unbuckled with terrifying precision, the cool slide of fingers against heated skin making Atsushi jolt and gasp outright. The sensation burned and thrilled all at once, pleasure spiking up his spine. He bit back a noise, clutching harder at Akutagawa’s shoulders, and then—
“Is everything okay here?” A voice rang down the hall, closer with each step. “Heard something loud!”
They broke apart like they’d been burned, scrambling so fast it was a miracle neither of them cracked their skulls on the wall. Atsushi caught on the edge of his half-unbuckled pants and went down hard, landing with a graceless thump that knocked the breath out of him.
Which left him on his ass. Directly in front of Akutagawa. Face level with — oh god.
“He tripped and fell,” Akutagawa said flatly, the picture of deadpan denial.
—
or alternatively, five times atsushi and akutagawa tried (and failed) to get each other alone, and one time they actually managed it.

Summary
Chuuya was three sketches in, facades pinned neatly on the felt board, when a voice ghosts up behind his ear.
“Your balcony lines are crying for help.”
He turns. Tall, loose-shouldered, sleeves rolled, tie loose. The kind of tidy that looks like it wants to fail. There’s a grin that says he’s already won something.
“And you are?”
“Dazai Osamu,” he replies, like the name should carry gravity. “Also on this entry. Which makes me your partner, chibi.”
“What the hell did you just call me?!”
—
chuuya didn’t ask for a partner, especially not dazai. but work makes them share too many late nights, until rivalry morphs into routine, and routine slips into something harder to name.

Summary
He watched him — how the lamplight caught along the line of his jaw, how the moon found him first and refused to let go.
The moon, Atsushi thought with a faint, amused smile, seemed to prefer him.
—
between missions, they wait out the night in akutagawa’s safehouse. familiar walls, soft light, and a pool that keeps its own kind of silence. nothing happens, and somehow everything does.

Summary
“Jinko.” Akutagawa’s voice was sharp at his shoulder, sleeve tugging him back toward the cart. “Focus. We have things to get.”
“Right, right,” Atsushi said quickly, though his eyes had already snagged on a sign above a stack of long green vegetables. Zucchini, it said. On sale. Four dollars per kilo.
Atsushi blinked at the pile. Picked one up. Stared at its curve for a moment too long.
Which was exactly when Akutagawa finally tracked him down again, face set in irritation. “What are you–”
Atsushi held up the zucchini, eyes wide with earnest innocence.
“It kind of looks like yours.”
—
atsushi and akutagawa go on a simple grocery run, nothing that could possibly go wrong. except everything goes wrong: accidental PDA, inappropriate jokes in the most public of places, and one too many moments that make akutagawa wish he could crawl into the floor… or throttle his boyfriend.

first came the noise complaint. then, the midnight takeouts. now atsushi’s stuck with a group chat convinced he’s on his honeymoon, an IKEA trip he’s still recovering from, and a senior engineer who makes pancakes at dawn.
architect & engineer!bsd au - where deadlines and meddling colleagues keep pulling atsushi and akutagawa into the same spaces until chance starts to look a lot like inevitability. atsushi is, frankly, a mess at every turn, while Akutagawa seems oblivious… or is he?

“Anti-inflammatories?” Dazai asks, staring at Chuuya now.
“Yeah, my bones hate me.”
“Your . . . what?”
“Dazai,” Mori says, still looking like he’s watching a comedy show, “Chuuya has hypermobility.”
“Hyper-what?” Dazai and Chuuya both ask.Sometimes Dazai and Chuuya wear matching bandages.

“Did the water cool down a bit?”
“No, it’s still too hot to — GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF THE BOWL RIGHT NOW!”
“But it’s warm.”

Summary
He had been here before.
The moment thrummed with the inevitable, the bite of the crisp autumn air, the call of seabirds in the distance. Akutagawa stared through the crush of people, his heartbeat quickening, confused and concerned at his own inability to control his body’s reaction. Déjà vu was nothing but a fault in the brain, a broken neural pathway remapped across an existing memory…and yet.
He had been here before.
