It starts raining in thin, steady sheets as River steps down from the train. The email had not been overflowing with information: pack for all weathers, no mobile phones, date and time of departure, board Paddington, change Newport, final stop Ludlow, wait. It had also told him not to be followed.
River endures assault courses, psychological torment and bad food at MI5 residential training, with only James 'Spider' Webb to cheer him up. He's fucked.

This is a celebration, and Ray and his hang-dog look can piss off til the morning, til toast and tea-with-four-sugars and the grind of real life returning. Not that there’s anything wrong with real life – it does get a certain sheen when you’ve been thinking you’re about to go to jail – but still, Gene'd had enough on his to do list before losing half a week to this mess with Haslam.
A coda to s02e07, in which Gene's accused of murder and Sam has to clear his name. The party goes on late and drunk and forces Gene to consider some things.

He probably should have known right then, the moment he saw them. Down the street some distance, crowding around the mouth of a narrow little alley. The way they were standing said trouble, sure enough: looming, tense shoulders and jutted-out chins, brief sharp movements of their hands and arms.
He should have known trouble meant Johnny.
But he didn't think of it, didn't realize. He saw there was somebody cornered, getting shoved around a little—and it wasn't till one of them finally threw a punch, knocked that somebody's hat off and gave Henry a nice clear view of a flash of wheat-gold hair, that Henry felt his breath hitch and fumbled his way into motion.
