    Another one that promises to be really thoughtfully written. So far seems to be going in the direction of putting the internal logic of the canon cultivation society’s beliefs about things like “righteousness” (and punishment and atonement— and probably the also the relative merits/pitfalls of putting the pursuit of “harmony with the majority/loudest minority” above all of those other things) under the lens.

    So freaking compelling. Partly because this is definitely one of the most thoughtfully written “ancient character time travels to the modern day” fics I’ve ever read. Partly because the situation so far has been such an excellent showcase for WWX’s particularly deep reservoirs of genius + good-natured sangfroid + tactical gremlin behavior.

    That alone would have been fine, if his case partner wasn't that cold fish Lan Wangji. Yes, the same boring stick-in-the-mud Lan Zhan, with whom he has had an uneasy relationship when they studied together at the Cultivation Academy and whom he hadn't seen for more then five years...

    really too good to be slept on. A reincarnation fic with interesting characterization, that pours a lot of imagination/originality into world building and storyline so that the modern world and plot feel like a logical (many centuries later) progression from the world of mdzs. Doesn’t rehash the beats of canon, but sometimes echos them in a really pleasing way.
