It's unfair how good he looks, Phupha thinks and Tian's brain short circuits a bit. Is this a new shirt? I have never seen him wear a black shirt before.
Tian glances at the shirt he's wearing and then at the other people in the lift. 3 people, excluding him, wear black shirts that seem new. Tian is not drinking vinegar, not yet anyway, but he has to know who Phupha is talking about.
Having him beside me like this is— and then there are images that Tian is bombarded with. Images centred around… him. Those images show Phupha inching closer to Tian and putting an arm around his back, pulling him closer; Phupha resting his head on Tian's head; Tian pulling Phupha by his waist, leaning his head on Phupha's chest. They're the only two people in the elevator in Phupha's thoughts.
