After bringing him coffee one lecture, he learnt that despite how intimidating he looks, his go to order is sweetmilk, which shocked Jayce enough for him to ask around for notes on that class to copy up from. He notices how his eyes close from a moment whenever Vi slings an arm over his shoulder mid explanation, pulling Viktor in to talk about their shared upbringing. He watches Viktor linger in any quick victory hugs shared by his fellow students after they finally grasp understanding of a complex equation.
Jayce can’t help being a scientific man, so he tests his theory.

Summary
Poor Viktor thought it would end with a simple kneeling and slipping a ring on his finger. He thought a few theatrical gestures would do the trick, and in a few hours they'd all be laughing about it. But who would Jayce Talis be if he didn't put one hundred percent of his commitment, devotion, and love into everything he did? Big words and great gestures were in his blood, and in that moment, he was ready to give this man exactly what he was asking for.

Summary
