"Really," Crowley says, and laughs, sharp and mean. "They gave you the job and not the authority to run it? Well, isn’t that a surprise. If only someone had told you."
"That's not how these things work! It's just—slow going, is all. Change takes time, Crowley."
"Sure, yeah. Climb your way up, but not too much, ey?"
"It's not about me," Aziraphale says, snappy, in that holier-than-thou voice. Crowley smiles mirthlessly, bares his teeth.
"No, you're just a tool for the greater Good, are you. How's that working out, d'you think?"
"Swimmingly, actually. The Metatron really appreciates my suggestions." He smiles—soft, wondrous, almost disbelieving. Crowley wants to scratch it out of his face. Wants to shake him until he comes to his senses and drops to his knees and begs him—
"I always knew you were naive, but not this much," he hisses. "They're going to chew you up and put you through the grinder until you can't take it anymore and then, when you finally, finally snap, they'll cast you down like they did the rest of us."
Aziraphale's eyes flick down once—to his mouth, Crowley realizes, and abruptly steps back, face prickling with shame. Shame, him. Imagine that.

You see sometimes, humans will say one thing, but actually mean another. They call these unusual little turns-of-phrase 'idiots' - probably, Muriel thinks, because of how very stupid they are.
OR: Muriel dusts, discourages the sale of books, and collects their favourite idioms in a little leather notebook. Crowley drinks, makes snide comments, and gets dusted from time to time. A mysterious door is miracled into existence.
(An S2 fix-it and Getting Together oneshot, from the POV of my favourite funky little baby, Muriel. Because my heart needed it to exist).

So, when humans say ‘spilling your guts’ I suppose it means to…to let out everything that you’ve been feeling. To tell someone what’s been on your mind. Especially if it’s something you’ve been bottling up, like–”
“What kind of bottles?”
“I–what?”
“Is there a specific type of bottle designed to hold human feelings?”

Summary
They walk back to the hotel once Yuuri has changed back into regular clothes and does his second round of interviews. He’s still quiet, but his eyes are burning instead of sparkling. He still holds Victor’s hand, but he walks half a step ahead of him, and Victor lets himself be led. There are a couple other skaters around - some stayed to shower, but most have been gone for half an hour or more - but Yuuri pays no attention to them. His gaze is on the building they’re staying at, and he barely says a word until they get there and then, when the elevator doors close, he hits the button for their floor and then shoves Victor against the wall.
“Oh,” Victor says.The aftermath of Yuuri's Four Continents skate.

There is never any sneaking around in the dimly lit corridors of ship’s night, or discreet Vulcan kisses in the nooks of engineering.
Unless Jim is incredibly tired, or stressed, there are no lingering looks on the bridge, either.
The stakes are far too high.
ORAdmitting to each other that they are in love is not an issue. The problem is revealing it to everyone else.
