Looking up at the old man, Mud asked, “Are you the Bookman?”
“Did this scoundrel tell you about me?” the old man – the Bookman – asked in response, one eyebrow rising in interest.
“Only that you’d be coming. No one else has come by all day, so I figured it was you,” Mud responded. “I’m Mud. Is Bookman your real name?”
“Is Mud yours?”
“It’s what people call me,” Mud said, with a twinge of discomfort. The kids who had names had never considered that a good answer, but all the nameless kids had to call each other something. He waited for Bookman to correct him, but instead the old man smiled.
“That’s a wise way to look at it,” Bookman said. “But from now on, you shall be called Junior.”

The next morning, Bookman left, and he took Junior with him.

It’s not that I wasn’t curious, and it’s not like there wasn’t a more logical part of me that knew that this was terrible security procedure, even if I didn’t hear a peep from risk assessment (what else is new?). But on a deeper level, I knew there wasn’t any risk.
I wanted ART to prove it to me.
I wanted to go in blind and know that it wouldn’t hurt me, and that it would stop if I asked it to. I wanted to let ART in and not have to think about it.

Murderbot is affected by potentially deadly malware on Preservation Station. Gurathin thinks quickly. Murderbot, afterwards, tells him what it thinks of the measures he took to stop it.
(I'm not sure how to describe this fic, but it follows my favorite formula: Murderbot gets malware that almost makes it kill someone, it is stopped just in time, and then it has some Emotions about it.)
