“Can’t sleep either, huh?”
His head snapped up halfway through putting the joint to his lips. Through the dark, he could see Russel standing against the side of the bus, not really doing much at all. Just standing there. Stuart had no idea how he managed to just… exist.
Calming his rabbit heart down, he closed his lips and took a long drag. Imagine getting scared that much by your own bandmate. He cracked a smile.

She looked up at him, still frowning. His smile faltered, just a little.
“Yew okay?”
She glared. “I’m not the one sulking.”
At that, he let out a weak little giggle and rustled her hair. Her very nice hair that had taken a long time to get ready. Hissing, she batted his hands away before he could ruin her appearance any more than he already had.
“Yeah, you ain’t,” he smiled. “Sorry. I jus’ dun’ like stuff like this.”

But it wasn’t like he could just hide from her. She was a kid, for one. What kind of asshole didn’t at least try to talk to a crying child?
So he closed the cupboard and slowly stood up, trying to make it seem like he hadn’t been sitting there for a couple of minutes. He half expected Noodle to get up and run away the second she heard anything, but she just stayed still. She definitely noticed him, though. He couldn’t miss the way that she stiffened at the sound, curling her toes up to try and stop herself from crying. He knew that one all too well.

But Stuart had a couple of ideas for what else he could do.
He reached out and bumped shoulders with Murdoc. “Wot if we go do sumthin’?”
Murdoc looked up at him, lips curled up in some sort of snarl. “Like what?”
Leaning back, Stuart tipped his head right over and smiled. He knew he had this in the bag at this point – he had figured out at least enough about Murdoc to know what bait worked on him by now.
“Yew got connections, yea’?”
Murdoc’s head slowly tilted up. Despite himself, he smiled right back. Stuart couldn't help but smile even harder. It was fun to see him actually in a good mood.
“More than you, Faceache.”
