Summary
Deep within a tomb that housed a forgotten fallen god, the god’s bad luck finally faltered in the face of his devoted believer’s good luck. But whether such a scene could truly be called lucky was hard to say.
Or: HC finds XL in Fangxin’s coffin and brings him home to heal. And then he stays forever

“Ilya,” he whispers. “I want this. I want to know when you’re hurting and when things are hard, because I want you. I want you when you’re sad, and lonely, and messy-“
“-you hate mess,” Ilya teases, drawing a hard-earned smile out of Shane.
“But I love you.”

Yuna Hollander stares at the diamond engagement ring in slight horror as her husband laughs silently next to her on the couch. Her five year old son stares back at her with his doe eyes on her other side.
“I'm sorry, sweetie,” she asks as calmly as possible, “did you say a boy gave this to you?”
Or, a near lifetime from Yuna's eyes.

Summary
It's not something that they ever talk about. They don't need to acknowledge it, and no one else ever needs to know. Or, no one else needs to know until suddenly Shane is in the hospital and no one will let Ilya see him.
(Ilya and Shane are soulmates. It doesn't change everything, but it changes enough.)
