So when a sliver of an opportunity presents itself, in the form of a tired, run-down 24-hour coffee shop, he takes a leap of faith and goes inside. -

There was something really nice about your friendship with Peter Parker. You two worked because you didn’t have to talk all the time to fill the quiet. Sure, communication was nice and sometimes you wished people learned how to utilize such a valuable tool better, but you liked the comfortable silences and the peaceful Friday nights the two of you shared. Well, you and Sally, your fifteen year old relic of a popcorn machine that was, yeah, definitely inching close to death’s door, but you still couldn’t bring yourself to give her up.
You liked being comfortable with him. Your routine. Simple, easy. Sure, the cost was that the line ‘don’t read into it’ was quickly becoming your catchphrase amongst your friends, because they couldn’t get past the idea that you and the admittedly attractive Peter Parker were just having friendly movie nights every week’s end. But you’d happily pay if it meant having a best friend who you didn’t have to try around. You guys just got each other. It was amazing.
Or, you and Peter Parker have a totally, happily platonic friendship. Until one night, things...shift.

Fake dating. An ancient trope from the very beginning of time - or like, whenever the rom-com gods started working their movie magic. It’s tried and true, a move that always has a satisfying happy ending.
Well, at least in the movies. In the real world, it’s a suggestion that’s much more messy and complicated for any sort of good end. It’s bitter and heart-wrenching and convoluted, leading to tears and shouts and vases being thrown - or, something like that. Could this trope even ever truly work?
OR, Diego Hargreeves needs a favour unlike anything he’s ever asked for before, from someone who's only supposed to be his friend.
