Summary
If it wasn't for his work with the Longbottoms, Antonin would have preferred to spend his Christmas alone. At least there, he doesn't have to endure the unwanted company of those who would rather see him behind bars or, better yet, dead. Here, where lights twinkle and champagne pours free, he is as out of place as a bear at a ballet.
Likewise, Hermione isn't one for lavish parties or small talk, but she is a good friend with the determination to make an appearance, even if only for a short while. The last person she expects to run into is the man who once nearly killed her and continues to irritate her every sensibility.
Maybe it's the season. Maybe it's the drink. Or, maybe, they were always meant to meet like this.
