    Summary

Ferran fell to his knees the moment he saw Pedri’s face hit the floor on his screen. If the image itself wasn’t heartbreaking enough, he physically felt like his chest was on fire, too, his heartbeat hammering and his head throbbing with pain.

What the hell was going on?

“You’ve ran out of time. We’re doing this now,” Ferran said.

    “What?”

“What what? Pedri, I’m fucking done with whatever this is. I’m leaving for Paris tomorrow,” he said, walking past him and into Pedri’s house.

    Oh.

    —Hola —dijo el farmacéutico.

    —Hola —dijo Ferran.

Silencio.

It sounds to me like you’re not sure you want to be there anymore, Arantxa had said last time they’d called — Ferran knows where he wants to be now: buried in Pedri, devouring every inch of him, listening to him beg Ferran for more like Ferran is God, and Pedri is his devotee.

Ferran has enough on his plate already without Pedri testing his faith in God.
