"Nevermind, I just thought-" he begins, face heating with shame.
"Ok," Diluc says it so quietly, Thoma is afraid he didn't hear it in the first place. That he imagined it. But when he glances to the boy beside him, Diluc's blush matches his red hair, and he's avoiding eye contact. Very different from the confident teenage prodigy who wanted to arm wrestle anyone who would sit still long enough to be challenged.
"Ok?" Thoma parrots, asking for confirmation.
"...yea. Just to practice," Diluc confirms, sounding more confident the more he speaks, as if psyching himself up for it, "Friends can kiss to practice, that's not weird."

Thoma returns to Mondstadt after a decade in Inazuma for a bit of business, and a bit of leisure. He's certain the childlike crush he had on Diluc in his youth has since subsided, and sees no harm in rekindling their friendship from before his life shifted. But a lot can change in ten years.

When Hank is injured in the field, Connor is left temporarily without a partner. Gavin considers himself the unluckiest person in the world to be stuck with the plastic for the next six-to-eight weeks while the Lieutenant heals. However, when a case ends up taking an unexpected turn, he'll have to swallow his pride for a little bit to get the job done. And maybe, just fucking maybe, he'll come around thanks to big brown eyes and a computer brain.
There's unf and tension and maybe some boners eventually with some occasional crime solving.
