Summary
Few things had torn Viktor up by the roots and turned his life around like Jayce Talis. Jayce has some primal instinct to take everything he could apart in order to put it back together, to understand. Many times he’d watched the man pick apart and reassemble everything from children's toys to the chronometer on their laboratory walls.
He supposes that Jayce feels this way about Viktor as well, some need to understand – to connect. Viktor has been made a pet project (the more he thinks about this, the more he realizes he does not mind).He feels he has known Jayce always, even when he did not know him.

Jayce really, really wishes he could agree that any of his Viktor-related goals are noble. From where he sits, they’re all varying degrees of selfish, licentious, unrealistic, and horny.
