Some androids say this world had been beautiful, once. It’s hard to remember that, when all North had ever known was glaring neon lights and glitter, semen-soaked mattresses and back alleys marred with graffiti, bags of rubbish, dead rats and syringes and weeds erupting from the damaged roads, abandoned houses with smashed windows and boarded doors, the slush of the November snow running blue with Thirium, red with blood.
If she lets herself, she thinks of an afternoon on a rooftop; the setting sun illuminating the snow gold and bronze; the sound of a piano playing a melancholy tune; the soft touch of a man who would be the last she ever dreamed of innocence.
There’s an ache for what could have been, if the humans hadn’t forced her hand.
North detonated the dirty bomb; Detroit belongs to the androids now. A chance encounter with a dying woman in the wastelands alters everything North thought she knew about humans.

Set during the 3-month timeskip before winter. There are wonderful character arcs and nice campfire scenes, but it gets dramatic as hell—buckle up.
