Summary
It was, perhaps, presumptuous to navigate life in the way she did, with an unshakable faith that she was meant to conquer great things worthy of an epic, dramatic romance film. Yet her mom said she had always been like this, recounting oftentimes the story of when a five-year-old Scarlet bawled her eyes out after losing an old, beat up doll she never played with anymore, just because she enjoyed being sad too much not to make a scene out of it. She welcomed pain, every story needed its protagonist to experience suffering so they could recognize true happiness once it came to them.
Scarlet was certain it had just come to her because even then, nine hours after Yvie’s name showed up on her wrist, she still felt her heart about to burst with happiness and love. It didn't matter that she did not know who Yvie was.
Scarlet is in love with the idea of a soulmate. Yvie is hesitant. They meet.
