It’s like Buck can practically see Tommy’s heart on his face in that moment before he says, “Got it.”
“Tommy,” Buck tries. “What’s happening right now?”
“I’ve got a shift later,” Tommy says, looking down at the spread of food, voice emotionless before he looks up. Buck could swear his eyes are a little red, like he’s trying not to cry. “Thanks for last night. It was fun.”
“Tommy,” Buck pleads and he can feel the panic rise in his chest. “Don’t.”
He follows him out of the kitchen, calls his name again but Tommy doesn’t stop. He’s just opening the front door when, without even really meaning to, but knowing it might be the only thing to get him to stop, Buck says, “I’m in love with you!”
Or: Buck stops Tommy before he leaves the house. Alternate ending to 8x11.
