“We fucked up our room,” Mike murmurs, his face pressed against Will’s hair. He rubs small circles on Will’s back, a gentle motion full of so much love and care, and Will leans close, breathing in deeply and relaxing in his embrace amidst the chaos of their paint-covered room.
“That’s okay,” Will replies softly, before he pulls away, just enough so that he and Mike can look one another in the eye again. He smiles, taking in Mike’s appearance — the splatters of paint like freckles on his face, the streaks of green now caked in his dark hair, the soft expression that Mike only ever seems to reserve for Will. “It’s our home. We can do whatever we want.”

A warm, fuzzy feeling settles into Mike’s stomach. He’s vaguely aware of the fact that he’s smiling like a complete idiot now, but between the alcohol and Will being right here, he doesn’t care. “Sorry,” he apologizes. “You seemed busy with your friend.”
He doesn’t mean for that word to come out sounding petty and childish, but ah… it does. It definitely does.
And Will definitely notices.
Something shifts in his expression as curiosity breaks through Will’s drunken, bubbly nature, and he tilts his head, narrowing his eyes at Mike and staring at him for what feels like several long moments. “Wait a minute,” he says finally, incredulously, “are you – are you jealous?”
