Summary
Shiro was never rescued. Instead he fought his way up from Champion to a General in Zarkon’s army. Furthermore, Keith was born, raised, and climbed the ranks as a half-breed inside the Empire. He has never been to earth, and Shiro is the first human he's met.
Keith was transferred under Shiro’s command by the Emperor as a reward for the General’s excellent work. His official position is assistant, but his society does not frown upon superior/underling relationships or the demanding of sexual favors. Keith is capable of leaving, but he would be taking away the Emperor’s personal gift and lose everything he’s workedfor.
Despite the power difference, they have grown quite fond of each other. Shiro hasn’t seen another human since Matt was taken to the work camps. He is very attached to Keith, doting on him constantly. Keith has not had someone genuinely care for his mental and physical well being since his mother died. The no strings attached kindness Shiro has shown him has made the General the center of all his devotion.
They have started a consensual relationship based upon mutual love, but with some very unhealthy aspects. Shiro asks for more than he should, and Keith gives too much.
