“Do you even have a costume?” Bruce asked, folding his arms. “Or were you just planning on going in your civvies?”
He expected the question to deflate Damian’s argument. Instead, Damian straightened up, defiance flashing in his eyes.
“I made one.”
That made Bruce pause.
“You made one?”
“I’m going to be a butterfly,” Damian said, with a strange mix of pride and challenge in his voice—as if daring Bruce to laugh at him. “Please. I really want to go.”

Dick huffs a quiet laugh. He knows. He’s been putting off his haircut for weeks.
Now that he’s donning the cowl instead of the domino mask, there’s no practical reason to keep it short. No one could yank on it in a fight anymore.

He glances down at his son again. Damian has tears barely forming at his water line. His grip on Bruce’s hand is still tight, he’s started to lean against his leg for support.
