Summary
It only took basically a decade but Shane finally has Ilya in every aspect. He should be celebrating and enjoying it, should be focused on slotting into his new team in Ottawa. Instead he's watching the news cycle with bated breath, waiting for the inevitable moment that his name pops up alongside words like "victim" and "Dallas Kent."

Summary
"I did not realize until you got here, how much they do not realize what a Montreal locker room actually sounds like."
--or, a slight A/U where Shane didn't stay in Montreal after the cottage just because he wanted to or because he thought it was expected of him and those years after he came out to his team had been worse than he lets on
---OR, Shane acquires a Russian duckling, finally sets the record straight with his man, goes full 'protect the rookie' mode when his duckling is checked during a game in Montreal, and learns how to be part of a team again (in that order)

Summary
It'd been easier for Shane to pretend the emotional meltdown that he'd had after their 2014 encounter in Vegas hadn't happened than to bring it up to Ilya. It'd only ever happened that one time. There's no reason to dwell on it or rehash old stuff when both of them are great at aftercare now and have been since they officially got together.
--or, Shane definitely should've told Ilya sooner

Summary
Sidney’s heats come and go as they please. It’s always been that way. It’s how he got his diagnosis, the one that is basically a nice way of saying that he’s very fucked up and should be ashamed of it. It’s bad enough being an omega who plays hockey. Being an omega who plays hockey that doesn’t even biologically function correctly is even worse.
