Summary
Chu Wanning can hear the racket coming out of Mengpo Hall long before he’s close enough to see into the dark interior. He refuses to squint, even though the bright sun stings his eyes. He knows the dimmer hall will be a respite once he gets indoors, just as he knows it will quieten when he enters. At the moment, however, the raised voices and yelps of laughter hit him like a series of lashes, causing seemingly tangible pain that he ignores only through long years of practice.

Summary
At the stony look on Mo Xi’s face, Murong Lian’s lips take on a sly tilt. “There’s no need to worry. Even when he prefers my cooking, he won’t be any less besotted with you.”
Mo Xi does not miss the key word, there: when. “What does that mean?” he asks.
“Nothing at all,” Murong Lian says as he slides a stock pot onto the stove, next to Mo Xi’s bubbling porridge. “Just that there’s no shame in being a spoiled young master. It’s not as if you can help it, Xihe-jun. It’s how you were raised.”
Mo Xi is grateful, as he so often is, that the boil of his spiritual power has settled since he was a child. Gu Mang loves this kitchen. It would be a shame to burn any of it.
(Or: when Gu Mang falls ill, Mo Xi and Murong Lian take it upon themselves to cook for him. A few insecurities boil themselves to the surface along the way.)

Summary
“No, I didn’t,” she counters stubbornly. He grins at her words, like the mere act of speaking to him is giving him up ground.
He kneels down in front of her, pale skin digging into the lush carpet.
“You forgot?” he asks, wounded, and he looks ten years old again with wide, gold eyes. Bile creeps up into her mouth and Hyuna shoves it back down, burning the line of her throat. “When the building exploded, that was reckless. It was like you were trying to hit me.”
Pain peels his lips apart into a bloodless smile.
“Do you think about me, Hyuna?” he asks, the second half going unspoken.

Summary
Hyuna takes his wrist in her hand, fingers circling around it completely, pressing hard enough to bruise.
“I’ll break it,” she threatens.
Luka laughs.
It bubbles up in his throat and spills through his lips without his consent, a stream of giggles, as tears prick at the corners of his eyes. It’s hilarious. Snap his wrist, and he’ll finally have a distraction from the pain splitting his skull. He’ll finally have something else to think about, and an excuse to miss classes for a day, and a good enough reason to have painkillers pumped into his veins until everything is completely, blissfully, numb.
“Do it,” he begs. “Hyuna, do it.”

Summary
By the time he reaches the city gates, the sun has slipped behind the hills, leaving them and the drifting ash crimson around the edges. The silhouettes of the once-familiar towers look like the skeletons sticking out of the sparse grass, and from the cracked paving stones, fog begins to rise.
“Someone should have put you to rest years ago,” Mu Qing mutters to no spirit in particular.

Summary
Shi Qingxuan is about to point out that, as Ming Yi said, the jade pillar has no sensation and there's not really any point to sucking her off like that. But then Ming Yi slinks onto the bed and pushes their way into her lap and licks a smooth stripe up the jade pillar, and, okay, Shi Qingxuan can see the appeal here.

Summary
“Your whole war, based on a bedtime story. You usurp my throne without the slightest idea what it means.” Rhaenyra’s words are vicious, but her tone is soft. She’d been so soft-spoken in the sept. Though there was a knife in her hand there had almost been a gentleness to the way she held Alicent’s wrist, dressed in the drab garb of the septas and still so striking. It’s a wonder nobody recognized her from sheer magnetism alone.
“I did what I thought was best for the realm.”
The blade kisses Alicent’s neck. She can feel the pain in a detached, dreamlike way, the shallow slice of a sharpened edge across the vulnerable skin of her throat.
“Liar,” Rhaenyra whispers.
OR
Alicent is haunted by so many things, her own decisions chief among them. Why not add Rhaenyra’s visit in the sept?
