Nagi didn’t love Reo. Even if he did, Reo doesn’t think Nagi was the type to show it. Maybe Isagi would be lucky. Maybe he’d be the one to recieve grand romantic gestures from Nagi. The thought alone made him nauseous.
His quiet cries turned into sobs. Reo doesn’t think he can take this anymore. He wishes so badly that Nagi was different. That Nagi would love Reo. That he would show it. That he’d make an effort. He keeps wishing for things that he knows he’ll never get.
His tears fall. Fall. Fall. Until sleep finally takes him.

i love that in every universe, nagi is so sure that he will always love reo. fated fr !!!!! i also really enjoyed that au sei knows he's not his reo, theres something there that i like and i dont really know why still but it hit. i like that he also helps reo work through his insecurities n logics his way through it, it was a super sweet moment and i adored it. the photos n the journal are what made me cry though, i havent had that cathartic of a cry in a v long time and i loved every moment of it

“Of course—of course the people I set you up with won’t have the exact same color hair as me,” Reo says, exasperated. “They’re not me, Nagi.”
The video game noises from Nagi’s phone continue. “Can you just do it, then?”
Reo stares at him. “Can I just…?” He blinks. “Can I just, what, date you?”
Nagi nods. Reo continues staring. If he was in a comic book, there would likely be a panel where gears were shown spinning in his mind as he struggled to process Nagi’s words—since he isn’t in a comic book, all he can do is stare stupidly at Nagi, who refuses to look up from his phone. Reo doesn’t get it, doesn’t get what Nagi is trying to accomplish with his ridiculous suggestion—
“Oh,” Reo says as realization strikes him like a brick. "Oh! You mean fake dating, don't you? As in, we pretend to be dating, right?"
Nagi's gaze, finally, pulls away from his phone to Reo, but only for a moment before landing back on his phone. Something like disappointment flickers across his face. Ah, Reo thinks, his game character must have died.

"Nagi," he tries again, his smile faltering. Nagi doesn't notice, her wide eyes as impervious as ever. "How do you feel after your big match? Your team's won the U-20 World Cup—and in your first year playing, no less!"
Nagi's quiet for a moment, mulling it over. "I miss Reo."
Reo turns off the TV.
reo quits blue lock after the second selection. nagi doesn't know what to do without her.
