Olruggio was smiling as he spoke, and his eyes were lit by a determined fire. But he didn’t forget that Olruggio was the one who told him smiling put others at ease. She should have known better than to let her guard down for even a second, she knew the Realm would take advantage of any sign of weakness from her. But she was growing tired of fighting, tired of dragging herself to through the darkness in some vague attempt of finding a way back to the Realm of Light. She could feel that her eyes were already closed, sleep dragging her deeper into the dark depths. She should open her eyes, try to wrestle her way out of the tendrils of darkness wrapping around her, trying to convince her to stay asleep, to finally rest. She should be doing that, but all she could feel was a numbing sense of hopelessness spreading throughout her body.
Maybe… this has been all for nothing.

“No frowning. No sad face. Okay?”
Smiling did help when things got particularly rough. It was a good distraction, it helped him get the job done. Somewhere along the line though, he stopped letting himself feel anything that would wipe it off his face. He still had his moments where his inner doubt would come out, but he kept it at a minimum. He couldn’t let Donald or Goofy know about how he was feeling, there were more important things to take care of. People’s lives were at stake, worlds needed to be protected. Even if all he wanted inside was to go home and just be with his friends.

Summary
The first time Suo kisses Sakura is after their first date, just in front of the boy’s front door. He keeps the connection chaste and polite, for more than a few reasons. Elated as he is that Sakura allowed him this date and enjoyed it, he wants to ease him into this. He’s still flustered by people expressing any sort of care or admiration, he’s a bit worried Sakura might die if he does too much too soon.
Every ensuing time, he lets himself indulge a little more.
(Or, five times Suo kissed Sakura, and one time Sakura kissed Suo.)

“I said give me a second!” He snaps over his shoulder, and shit, he shouldn’t have looked, because he can’t figure out Umemiya’s expression. It’s way too neutral. Surprised? He doesn't know. There’s no scorn, no disgust, but there’s no warmth either. None of the reassurance he’d apparently been hoping for, and God, isn’t that a little pathetic?
Sakura looks at his hands again. His skin is a mess. It’s all red and white and he thinks there’s purple crescents blooming from where he almost tore his flesh open with his nails.
