My now-husband was a 38 year old veteran that just bought a home, and came with 2 barely-teen kids. I was 21, homeless, and feeling pretty hopeless. A chance encounter at a diner, a meeting that was only possible because of the terrible no good bad things happening to me at the same time wonderful amazing great things happened to him.
A love born of chance and circumstance, built on trust and communication, ours is unconventional at best. We aren't soul-mates, though I do believe in them, but maybe every love story doesn't /need/ that.
