Summary
“Eddie!” he exclaimed, rushing towards him, “You’re awake.”
“I am,” Eddie said, weakly, trying to smile, “Hi…”
He trailed off, realizing he didn’t even know his name. He couldn’t believe he didn’t even know the name of his boyfriend.
“You don’t remember me?” he said, looking at Eddie, his brows furrowed in concern. Eddie wanted to reach out and smooth the skin.
“No,” Eddie said sadly. He couldn’t believe he’d forget someone so wonderful, “But it’s okay. I still love you."
Eddie survives the Upside Down, but his injuries cause amnesia, forcing him to forget the last four years of his life. He doesn't remember much of his life now, but he knows Steve is definitely his boyfriend. There's just one problem — they aren't actually dating. Steve decides to go along with Eddie's assumption, hoping Eddie will remember the truth shortly. But as Eddie's amnesia persists, real feelings start to develop between them.
