It had long been the practice for one kingdom to offer up an omega of noble birth for a political marriage: an alliance cemented by a common interest—in this case, the health and well-being of an heir with shared blood.
But omegas were a rare commodity out on the western plains, and whatever Qui-Gon’s opinion of Lord Ele-Wan Kenobi, he did not think the man a fool. Westlanders were accustomed to doing more with less; why negotiate one alliance, when an omega could easily serve as a bargaining chip in three?
