Summary
This tale follows series three of Sanditon with Alexander Colbourne as the featured character. It picks up about three months after Alexander Colbourne and Charlotte Heywood are married. Against great odds, they have fulfilled their deepest wishes of marrying, and happily ever after is the expected outcome. However, challenges remain ahead of the couple, originating in Alexander's unhappy past. Charlotte is aware of some of Alexander's story, but there was much that occurred in his life that left him with deep wounds which are not easily left behind. Married life is rarely simple, and a happily ever after cannot be taken for granted.

He watches her carefully, this relentlessly bright girl no longer in her rainbow dress. His eyes glance down to the form, blank spaces taking over most of the page. Name. District. Age. Family. It's not necessarily chronological. But her dark eyes don't look away from him, even as her grin softens.
"Alright," he says. He steeples his hands together, and the chains rattle. "I'm Coriolanus Snow. District 12."(Or, the world in which Snow is a tribute instead of a mentor.)

It took Coriolanus a second and a half to think of a lie, lying is what he does best, for sure, he can lie his way out of this one. He would say—the third one was his old self, he killed him to be with her, a noble story of love. He was not one to be poetic, not like Lucy Grey who has music in her bones and rhythm in her steps, but he would try. Just like the rose he gave her, Coriolanus will tell her just one harmless white lie.
It’s that easy.
Except there is this gnawing feeling she would never believe him. She would catch him in his flowery lies and cut the bud as quickly as he uttered them. He knew her well, more than she realized, though less than he likes, but he knew enough that lying would never work on her. Lucy Grey was like him in this way, of how well she reads people, always watching with those wide beautiful dark eyes of hers.
So in less than a second more, he decided to tell the truth. “I had been the one to rat Sejanus out,”

It hurts to speak, to think of anything other than Peeta.
