    Snufkin is ill. He usually pushes himself to get through it, but this time Moominmamma caught on before his condition could worsen. Snufkin begins to feel caged, especially since winter is coming up. He worries that he may not be able to make his trip to the South in time, and spending quality time with Moomin is making him even more anxious for what’s to come.

    His newly found feelings for his dearest friend makes Snufkin terrified that he may accidentally spill his deepest, darkest secret. His attempts to hide his true feelings fail.
