“This is a nice way to wake up.”
Matteo’s head whipped up from where he had been kissing at the bottom of David’s ribs and saw a sleepy smile aimed at him. He pulled away and let David’s shirt flop down again before sitting up and leaning over to kiss David on the lips.
“Sorry. I woke up and noticed that, uh,” he stroked a hand down David’s bare hip, “I guess you didn’t put anything on after we- you know. Last night.”
David glanced down at his own half-clothed body with sleepy eyes, and yawned before saying sleepily, “Oh, damn. I guess I didn’t.”
“Yeah, and I, uh. Got a little distracted by that.”
“Oh, did you?” David was grinning now, his eyes closing as Matteo continued stroking his hand down, letting it rest on David’s thigh.
“Yeah. You didn’t let me get you off last night. I really wanted to.”

"He choked when he saw the guy who had been leaning against the wall, Hot Mystery Dude, was walking up to Jacob, shaking his hand and grinning a grin so beautiful Matteo almost combusted.
Matteo had heard the expression “butterflies in the stomach” before, but figured the people who created it were wrong; he didn’t feel the gentle wings of butterflies on his insides. He felt like someone had poured bees down his throat and they were all trying to escape at once, any way they could."
Matteo abruptly needs a place to live when his dad all but drops him off the deep end. He's not thrilled about Jonas and Amira's idea of him becoming a camp counselor--until Hot Mystery Dude walks in, and Matteo might have a reason to be thrilled after all.

It wouldn’t have been unusual to have come home to maybe a dozen new mentions, tops, but to check his phone and see over a hundred new tweets after not having done anything to warrant that? That’s unusual.
Maybe even a little worrisome.

Summary
It's Matteo's first year of college, but he'd rather smoke weed in his dorm room all day than drag himself to class. He tries to sign up for what he thinks will be an easy arts elective and ends in a serious acting workshop. Here he sees the Boy he's been admiring from afar all over campus: David, who's directing the end-of-quarter production of Hamlet.
David thinks Matteo's a slacker who's gonna ruin the production he's worked so hard on. Matteo thinks David's just another pretentious artist-wannabe who thinks he's better than him.
And yet somehow, their faces keep ending up at such a kissable distance.
(Or, a hate-to-love College AU in which there's not so much "hate" as misunderstanding, presumption, and a whole lot of sexual tension).
