He will do everything in his power to stop you. He’ll charm, and he’ll lie, and he’ll promise you the world, and if you let him, he’ll kill you a dozen times over. You can’t let that happen. Don’t forger, the fate of the world rest on your shoulders.
You do care about the fate of the world, right?

Or: Grantaire wakes up with a voice in his head ordering him to save the world by killing a prince. Unfortunately, the rest of the voices in his head seem to have different plans, and Enjolras turns out to be a really convincing prince.

This is the end. Grantaire knows it too well. He’s known for days, even before that farce of a brief trial that ended with the “guilty” verdict without even allowing him to open his mouth. He’s known since he saw Jehan’s anguished face in the audience, since they locked him in that filthy cell where not even the sunlight reached him and he always had his feet wet, he’s known since the moment he took the damn gun in his hands.
Or, perhaps, he’s known since the first time he laid eyes on Enjolras and allowed his words to wrap around him, holding him like the spine he lacked.
He regrets so many things, but not the one that has brought him there. He would do it again, a thousand times.
A thousand times, if that meant saving Enjolras’ life.

Or, Grantaire takes the blame for Enjolras' crimes and gets sentenced to the gallows. And Enjolras has no option but to try to appeal to divine justice to save him. Luckily, he has a way of manipulating it...

Es el final. Grantaire lo sabe bien. Hace días que lo sabe, incluso antes de aquella farsa de breve juicio que acabó con el veredicto de “culpable” sin que le dejaran siquiera abrir la boca. Lo sabe desde que vio la expresión angustiada de Jehan entre el público, desde que lo encerraron en aquella celda inmunda a la que ni siquiera llegaba la luz del sol y donde siempre tenía los pies mojados, lo sabe desde el momento en que tomó la maldita pistola entre las manos.
O, quizá, lo sabe desde la primera vez que posó los ojos en Enjolras y dejó que sus palabras lo envolvieran, sosteniéndole como la columna vertebral que le faltaba.
Se arrepiente de muchas cosas, pero no de aquella que le ha llevado allí. Volvería a hacerlo, una y mil veces.
Una y mil veces, si eso significa salvar la vida de Enjolras.

Saint-Just holds the cold, trembling hand tight as he wends through every dark alley and side street he can find. The route is twice as long as it would be if they went along main streets, but it’ll be far less alarming for a man who’s just stepped out of the Place de la Révolution 1794 — as Saint-Just well knows from experience.
He punches in the code — nothing to be done about that; twentieth and twenty-first century living has made him soft, but not decadent enough to have a doorman. The old building had a physical key for a long time, but Saint-Just upgraded the security a couple decades ago. Not for himself as much as for the hundreds of tenants whose standards are a bit more recent than the Enlightenment.

Grantaire loves Combeferre.
It seems almost ridiculous to think it consciously. Of course Grantaire loves Combeferre. That’s a given. Combeferre is probably the best thing that’s ever happened to him in all of his 25 years. Combeferre is sweet and understanding and so, so smart, and sometimes Grantaire has to stop and think about how this is actually his life, now.
Things are going shockingly well, is the thing. It’s been eight months since Combeferre asked him out, and they kiss and fuck and go on dates and cuddle together on the couch in Combeferre and Enjolras’s living room.
Which brings him back to where he was originally going with this.
