Summary
He was half expecting to see Hongbin tied to the bedpost with a blindfold on when he walked in, it wouldn’t be the first time. Instead, it was just Hongbin sitting on the edge of the bed looking… nice. He had showered, styled his hair and was wearing one of his nicer dress shirts and pants. Everything else in the room seemed normal at first glance.

“I betrayed your trust,” Tagon begins, “and for that I am truly sorry.” A pause. “And I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
“You’re sorry I found out,” Taealha scoffs. “Tell me, Tagon, would you have said anything if I hadn’t walked in on the both of you in the act? Or would you have kept it a secret for as long as you could?” She looks him over, brows furrowing as she seems to remember something. “Does he even know what you are? Does he know you’re an igutu?” Tagon nods and she gasps, her hands flying to her mouth in shock. “How? Why? Why did you let him live?”
Tagon’s gaze fixes to the embroidery on her sleeve as he thinks through his answer. The easiest would be to remind her that Yangcha cannot speak and hence he cannot out Tagon as an igutu, but he can’t bring himself to utter such an excuse. But, to tell Taealha the truth would put Yangcha at risk.
“I trust him,” Tagon hears himself say.
