    Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones used to be close childhood friends, until Jughead transferred to Riverdale High after middle school leaving behind his childhood best friend. Betty grew a strong grudge against him for leaving her behind in the southside of Riverdale. Betty joined the serpents for a family since she never got a good one, and for protection after Jughead left her. Unwillingly, after Southside High was shut down before junior year, Betty was forced to transfer to Riverdale High where Jughead went.
