“Afternoon, pretty,” the stranger cut in, though he didn’t even look up from his phone.
The gears of John’s brain were fighting any effort to move. Was it afternoon? How’d he been asleep that long? He frantically tried to recall how he’d gotten here but nothing after his check in with Harry and her friend midway through the bar crawl last night was coming up-
The set up for this fic is directly cribbed from MaryLouLeach's lovely work, The Trust, where omega ownership involves legal paperwork, and Harry's gambling lets John fall, drugged, into another alpha's hands while he is home on leave. Also, alphas get a portion of their omega's pay. I took that all from the set up of The Trust, they are not my original ideas, but the possibilities have been burning in my head for a while. After that I went off the rails, and this fic is not a sequel in any way. Thank you to MaryLouLeach for writing a wonderful story!

John was wearing those jeans again. The flattering ones. And he never could be bothered to wear a coat long enough to cover his whole form. Sherlock pulled his own coat around himself tighter, annoyed. Why did John do these things in front of him? He had no intent of attracting Sherlock, his dating history had made that clear.

Summary
Life is a lot better for Sherlock and John than it was a year ago. Yes, John still can't walk and Sherlock is still on antidepressants, but they're married now, and almost everything else is back to their version of normal. They have a dog. Sherlock's solving cases again. But when Moriarty learns of their marriage, he escapes from prison and takes it upon himself to make their lives miserable. Is Sherlock really up to the challenge of catching a criminal whose only goal is to make sure that he and John don't live happily ever after?
