Summary
Out of his hero-gear, Techno should look just as intimidating as when he’s in it. He’s still absolutely massive, built in such a way that he could crush someone’s skull with just one hand. The absence of a mask means nothing, either, not when it gives direct access to stoic eyes, or the scars and battle wounds that nick at Techno’s jaw and stretch down the side of his nose.
Besides. Techno doesn’t need his costume to demand the obedience of the darkness.
Still. Still.
Tommy can’t be scared—not of this. Not when Techno’s hands are occupied with takeout bags, or when he’s wearing glasses low against his nose, or when his eyes meet Tommy’s and the corners of his mouth lift slightly. “Got takeout.”

Tommy is living a double life: at home, he spends time with his...mentor? Techno. At night, he goes out as the vigilante Flare.
It would be a lot easier if Techno wasn't the hero hunting him down. Oh—and if Techno didn't absolutely hate Flare.

Summary
Tommy was laughing as he jumped from the Pub’s ledge.
He loved this slow descent— the cool wind off the mountains, the perfect view he got of the valley he called home, the rush from the initial tip over the edge.
As an avian, he wouldn’t say he was exactly built for flight, but he was built for height. He breathed better up here where the air was thin, and when it came time to descend back to Earth, his wings carried him gently to the soft dirt.
Thanks to the protection of the mountains, the valley was rarely battered by harsh winds. They had the occasional storm or two, of course, but they were sheltered well from both the human world and the oft-unforgiving weather.
So the gust of wind came out of nowhere.
Like an ocean wave, it slammed into the underside of his wing and threw him sideways.
His wings folded awkwardly, the wind yanking them in all the wrong directions. He let out a breathless yelp, feeling for all the world like he’d just been sucker punched in the gut.
He panicked, twisting as he tried to gain traction.
“Help—”

Niki's life follows a routine. Get up, slog her way to the bakery, deal with asshole customers all fucking day, have some kind of meeting with the rest of the Syndicate, potentially do some villainy, head home to fall asleep and do it all again. But a teenager bleeding out on her floor sends that routine into a tailspin.
Never let it be said that the life of a villain in Manberg was uneventful.
