In Akutagawa Ryuunosuke’s heart lies a crack, a hole you could say.
It even had the effrontery to be shaped like a bleeding heart flower. A hole in his heart, being shaped like a flower… shaped like a heart. Is that a pun made by the universe itself? Not that Ryuunosuke could be aware of that anyway.
He was a stubborn man, he never wished to admit that he longed for the source of light in his life- that being his rival, Nakajima Atsushi. He didn’t want to believe it at all. He would rather claw out his own heart than let it lead him to where it wished to go.

Akutagawa never really cared for flowers before, he thought the act of gardening to be an undesirable task. He associated it with his childhood, crawling in the dirt and digging up weeds for the other children and himself to eat.
However, looking at this petal it suddenly occurred to him, why humans treasured flowers so.
