“Percy, I’ve got her. Give me your hand!” He looks paler somehow.
With the weight gone, I struggle to pull myself up with one hand, reaching out with the other. I feel his fingers brush against mine. A sharp pull dislodges me from the tiny ledge that was keeping me alive, and suddenly, I’m falling.
I realize 3 things. One, Annabeth’s voice is echoing distantly as she screams my name. Two, There’s something seriously wrong with the darkness quickly surrounding me. And three, Nico looks like he is moments away from doing something incredibly stupid.
I barely finish that thought when he jumps in after me, hands reaching out. My body reacts before my mind catches up and now, we’re holding on to each other as we fall.
“What the hell Nico!”
____Its been a while since I've read the books so I'll probably mess up a bit, but I figured I'd try writing and see where it goes. It's gonna be a slowburn percico fic. No Annabeth bashing cos why would we do that? And hopefully I can take the central characters of the fic through satisfying arcs of their own so it doesn't feel like I just threw two traumatized demigods into Tartarus, made them kiss, and called it a day.
