Summary
What isn’t part of Yudai’s normal morning routine is the whirr of the coffee grinder from the kitchen while he’s still getting ready. He rushes through his skincare and doesn’t bother with makeup or his hair - he’s just getting put in a chair once he gets to set anyway - because he doesn’t know what is going on in his own home if someone else is grinding coffee beans before him. His mind flashes through a few terrible possibilities as if the coffee is some kind of apology for bad news.
The smell of a fresh brew waits for Yudai in the hallway, fighting for the attention of his nose against his cologne. When he finally steps into the kitchen, Jo startles like he isn’t expecting to see Yudai, even though this was clearly all planned, two mugs steaming on the counter in front of him.

Summary
It is then, looking at him so closely, that Yūdai notices that Murata-san's mouth is perfectly proportionate: his top lip is as plush and plump as his bottom lip. Yūdai stares at that mouth for so long that he's definitely been caught out by the time he manages to drag his gaze away. Murata-san is smirking when they meet eyes; though the rest of his face hasn't changed, Yūdai spies that the corners of his mouth are twitching.
or: Fuma might be new and shiny and annoyingly handsome—but Yūdai's not going to let that distract him.

It’s obvious what Fuma wants. Yudai can feel the tug in his chest. Like there’s a rope around his ribs begging him in. If he were a few more drinks deep, maybe he’d give. Tonight, though, he only feels for what he stands to lose.
“I don’t shack up with cowboys."
A coyote howls in the distance. Fuma reaches out and brushes a stray lock of Yudai’s hair from his face, but he doesn’t linger longer than he needs to. It’s still enough to have Yudai shivering.
“Somebody break your heart?” Fuma asks, voice low.
“If they did, do you really think you’d be the one to put it back together?”
(OR: Yudai swears he'll never fall in love with a cowboy. Fuma proves him wrong.)
