Summary
Buffy's mom is dating this new guy, Ted. He's nice, polite, and has a good job. He also has a tendency to fly into uncontrollable fits of rage whenever Buffy does something he doesn't like. Everything in Buffy's life feels like it's falling apart and Buffy has no power to stop it. All she can do is hide out in the library with her sister so that they don't have to spend any more time at home with Ted than they already do.
Faith's living with Ms. Calendar. She took her in after Faith ran away from home. Ms. Calendar is dating a new guy, the school librarian. He's British and fancy and seems nice enough but Faith doesn't trust him. She knows from experience—years of having to put up with her mom's shitty boyfriends—that even the nicest seeming guys could be putting up a front. Ms. Calendar may be a smart lady, but Faith knows that she doesn't have the experience Faith has at identifying creeps. So she's going to make sure this guy's safe. And if it means hanging out in the library, the place where Buffy Summers, the hottest girl Faith has ever laid eyes upon, seems to basically be living in nowadays, well, that's just an unexpected perk.

Beatrice stands, tucks her phone away and stretches before facing the wolf once more.
“I’m going to go get your pain meds and some chicken to hide them in and you are going to eat it and focus on healing and once you're healed you will be released to live out the rest of your life without any more man-made injuries, alright? Just because the church is being weird about things doesn’t mean that things need to be weird between us. So no more mysterious circumstances, you got it?” Beatrice says to her observer.
She gets a head tilt in response and huffs at the innocent expression.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.”OR Ava, on the run from the church, finds herself trapped by leg injuries and placed in the care of wildlife rehabber Beatrice. Beatrice doesn't know that Ava's a werewolf and as Ava heals under her care, she finds herself longing to stay. Will Beatrice still accept Ava and want to be around her when she knows the entirety of what Ava is?

“Excuse me,” she calls, and waits until the chatter dies down. Once she has everyone’s attention, she takes a deep breath and steels herself. “Thank you all for coming tonight. As you are all aware, I am seeking a suitor. To ensure that my betrothed possesses courage and intellect, I have devised a contest.”
Beatrice can feel her parents’ eyes glaring daggers at her as the crowd begins to murmur. Lifting her chin, she continues, “Some of you may know that I have a companion, a black Persian cat by the name of Lilith. She does not tend to let people get very close to her, except for me. I will be tying a small key to Lilith’s collar that unlocks my front door. The first person who manages to get the key and open the door will be granted my hand. I wish you all luck.”

After travelling, Ava comes to town to find everyone obsessed with catching the cat that she happened to accidentally befriend in an alley.

“Well, Ava,” Beatrice clicked her pen, “what do you have for us today?”
“Incredible story, actually,” she said and made her way to the lectern as if she had done it a million times. “I did have a great presentation ready—mind blowing, really—but I left my flash drive at my hotel, so I’m just going to wing it.”
“You’re going to…wing it?” It was the first time all day Lilith had spoken to a lecturer. “You are one of five, out of hundreds of applicants, to vie for this incredibly coveted position, and you’re going to wing it?”
“Yep!” She said with a happy clap and pressed the button to raise the projector screen. “I’m good at doing things on the fly. You could say I’m-“ she looked over her shoulder at the class, “in my element.”
