Cale finishes the rest of his lemon tea. “Do we have whiskey?”
“We’re sixteen,” Athanasia reminds them, her voice dull with exhaustion. She still has her head on the table.
“Wrong." Cale waves a dismissive hand. “Nobody here is sixteen.”
Wordlessly, Lucas starts a summon, and the nearest vintage bottle zooms toward them from who knows where. Athanasia gives no more protests.
“Bottoms up.”
Or, alternatively: Cale Henituse, the tragedy of two too many forced transmigrations, and his plan for deicide.

Summary
Cale Henituse wakes in a different world, and it would all be according to plan if it weren't for two things: the God of Death's Mirror has disappeared into thin air, and this was not Aipotu. Instead of dragons aspiring to godhood, there's much talk of an Emperor losing his marbles, his once-beloved daughter becoming a wanted fugitive, and a vengeful ghost trying to overthrow the government. But, seriously, it's none of Cale's business.
This wasn't on the roster of worlds to save, the body he's in is half-dead, none of his allies are with him, there's a god out there that he must kill, and most importantly of all, Cale hates hard work.
If only Felix Robane hadn't forced him to come to that damn debutante ball.

I won't lie, Harry possesses an unparalleled quantity of luck and misfortune both. His sheer stubborn grit is impressive but in this particular fic he also gives me some INTENSE second-hand embarrassment. Like yeah you grew up a wanted criminal but why would you stuff your face at a formal dinner party 🫠 -

A disenfranchised Tom Riddle seeks an oracle for advice on how to win a war against fascist Minister for Magic, Albus Dumbledore, and his goons the Order of the Phoenix. The oracle tells him to go find a Potter from another world to be his weapon and that he'll "know which one", so Tom obediently opens a portal. The portal leads to where a war-weary Harry has decided to retire as a vet and live among his paternal side of the family. I have no idea why he's helping animals give birth all of a sudden but anyway.Unfortunately, Harry's family happens to include Jonquil, the most irritating, two-dimensional, indecisive, entitled bitch of a character I've read in a long time. In fiction, being annoying is the greater crime to homicide and so her repeated failed attempts to seduce Tom so he'll choose her as his oracle Potter provokes nothing but disdain for all involved (alas, she's oblivious to it).
Tom meets both Jonquil and Harry but obviously if he had to choose there isn't even a competition. Harry challenges his belief system and values, possesses a staggering amount of magic and practical skill in wielding it, and has overall managed to monopolise Tom's attention with all the success of the Mirror of Erised itself. They duel a lot and Tom tries multiple times to seduce him but his plans only find some headway when Harry, fuelled by a lifetime of considering Tom his fated enemy, accidentally casts a really intrusive spell that forcibly showed Tom's worst memories. Feeling guilty, Harry casts it on himself too, as a form of karmic justice. Since they're both in the know about each other's traumatic past, they very quickly get close. Dumbledore comes through from the portal at some point and then Harry wins the face-off and traps him in that dimension for a while.
Jonquil makes a break for it when she realises Tom has no interest in her and just goes through Tom's portal by herself. Harry for some reason wants to rescue her so he agrees to open a new portal for himself and Tom. This reduces his magical output, which is the main limiting factor in the sequel.
