It’s a marvel, truth be told— to attack multiple at once the way he does. Philippe cannot admire the handiwork for long, nearly losing the perfumer who stumbles around the tent’s corner. (And besides, he had a specific target to keep his eye out for— the black-and-white striped criminal hides well, avoiding the brute force of both hunters. It would be best if that one were saved for last; Philippe just has to hope he avoids the wandering Hermit’s pathway.)

Summary
By the time he’s all grown up, Mike’s gone and captured the hearts of everyone who lays eyes on him. A charismatic little thing, the acrobat does it all– he’s mastered everything Bernard threw at him, shooting upward in popularity. Everywhere they traveled Mike would find new ways to engage the crowds, throwing his all into every performance night by night. A shame for the other performers, who had grown to be old news in comparison to Laughing Mike– but so long as Mike performed well… Whispers blanketed themselves backstage. Away from Mike’s ears, away from Mike’s sight– “Mike just needs to keep it up and just maybe Bernard will be easier on the rest of us tonight.”
But if Mike didn’t hear it? It might as well never have happened.

LUCAS knew he had it in the bag when LORENZ requested further discussion. And much like HERMAN, LUCAS would only butt his head stubbornly at the idea of turning away from perpetual motion. ( “I was born for this. You’ll see, sooner or later, the way I see things. If you would allow me, I’ll assure you that you won’t regret this!” ) Another handshake, excitedly– both hands grasping LORENZ’S one– is in order when LORENZ invited him to embark on the very same road of discovery alongside him. LUCAS beamed, bright and proud. ( “I just knew you would understand!” ) Both LORENZ and BALZAC’S fates are further cemented in that very moment.

Summary
The furthest memory he can recall is the day of his mother’s funeral. His tiny hand was enclosed in the cold, unfamiliar hand of a stranger; his eyes fixated on the corpse in the casket above him. The image of her face blurs within his mind, but he knows it’s her. As she was lowered to the ground, he did not cry– much to the surprise of those around him. Aesop simply accepted things as they were, believing the older man's words leading him out of the cemetery. “Things are as they are meant to be, God’s plan involves His children to return to Him.” The man quietly whispered as the young Aesop’s head kept turned on the gravestone behind them. “It was simply your mother’s time. She welcomed His embrace, and with time you can help people like her.”

Summary
The contemptible thing about sin is that it comes oh so easily, and yet it is so very tedious to remove. Blatant murder was excusable through his own artistic means, it granted eternal life and beauty. Alas, even the minor things - mixed fabric, unpure thoughts, anger is a large one… they coated him. Like molasses, slipping down his throat and choking his lungs, sticking canine and lip together and the only means to free himself was to bite through the muscle.
Was it truly such a bad thing to give into desire at times? A human emotion. He was as human as anyone else was. Fury can forgive himself, for most things
“Fury,” he hears, a similar rattle of the knuckles against wood. “Your free time has ended."
There's no place like home. House arrest does make it a little different at times, however.

— So, as Shu delicately settles on the floor at Nazuna’s feet, he wonders if this is how Pygmalion of Cyprus felt. The kind of devotion to beauty which drove a man to marry a statue.
( nazuna loses his set of sewing measurements, and in a pinch, calls shu to ask if he would retake them so he has them before a rehearsal. shu, of course, is happy to comply. )
