Summary
“Buck,” Eddie breathes, just about the second the call connects. His voice is pitched, strained in a way that immediately sets Buck on edge. He doesn’t pause to let Buck say hello, either. Just gets straight to the point. “Chris wasn’t on the bus.”
Buck blinks as the words slam into him, one after the other. “What?”
“Christopher,” Eddie says, tight and tinged with distress. “He wasn’t on the bus. The one he takes home from school every single day. I went down to the stop to wait for him, like I always do, and he didn’t get off the bus, Buck. He— he wasn’t even on it.” Eddie’s voice cracks. “The driver, he said he didn’t see Chris get on.”
It takes a second, for the reality of what Eddie is saying to sink in.
Christopher, not home from school. Christopher, not on the bus. Christopher, missing.

Summary
“You know, I didn’t have you go back to the hospital ‘cause I figured the whole being-stuck-in-a-room-with-a-scalpel-wielding-robot thing was still a little fresh, but now I see that would’ve been better than having to watch—”
“It’s fine.”
Eddie huffs and slides Buck’s pants past his feet. His belt clanks against the floor.
“It’s not fine, Buck.”
or, Buck needs a moment after the subway rescue. Eddie gives it to him.

Summary
Neither one of them had the words to touch on the other's grief. Eddie had lost a man who saved his life multiple times, who he went to for advice, and who always knew what would help him. Buck lost something a little bit more. Maybe not more but different. Bobby was his captain, the same as Eddie but he was more than just a mentor. With Bobby, Buck experienced what it was like to be loved by a father for the first time in his life. And now Bobby's gone. Both of them are grieving.
Or Eddie comes home for the funeral, Buck finally crashes out, then things get better.

Summary
While talking to Buck, Eddie notices two men sitting on the table far behind them are watching them.
Eddie can't look away because those men are looking at them— at Buck, with such craving eyes it's disturbing. They are feasting their eyes upon Buck, giving him a continuous once over with their hungry stares— like a predator silently watching its prey from afar, it makes Eddie sick to his stomach.
"Eddie, is something wrong?" Buck wraps his fingers around Eddie's forearm.

Summary
Buck groans loudly and rubs his hand over his face like he is frustrated. "I have night terrors." He blurts out.
Before Eddie can open his mouth to say anything, Buck starts talking.
"And— I don't know." Buck knits his brows and sighs. "Usually it lasts only a few days and I'm good, but this time it's almost every night and—" He chuckles bitterly. "—and I'm just so tired."
"Do you want me to stay with you tonight?" Eddie offers.
