Summary
Just a lesson, that’s all it is. That’s all it should be. But emailing that powerpoint turns into a weekly meeting at the rectory to discuss the slides for CCD. You figure that he’s just being kind the first time, but the more time you spend with him, the more warmed you are by him.
Holding his gaze is like basking in the warmest sun in winter, a solace in your otherwise chilly existence in Chimney Rock.

Summary
Duke Leto Atreides had a woman he loved and an heir he was proud of. The reason why he never married the mother of his son was a political one, the very same reason why he was marrying a girl half his age he had never met. Her people were gifted and they were Caladan’s only hope.

Summary
You remember Duke Leto Atreides as a strong man—powerful, brilliant, and, in your few interactions, kind. From what you heard at the party, Atreides is as clever and popular as ever—though he does still have his enemies.
It is no wonder. All those that gain popularity gain enemies.

Summary
The first time you meet James Barnes is more of an accident than anything else.
Your magazine is throwing a Halloween party, more expensive than your average children’s Halloween, with way fewer people in costumes, but just as unserious and pretty boozy.
You only show up because you have to. Your boss made it known that attendance is mandatory. So you mingle and make sure they all see you there. Maybe a few too many cocktails find their way into your hand.
It’s way past midnight when you decide to get some fresh air on the rooftop terrace. It’s comparatively small but full of tasteful greenery and private enough. Most attendees have flocked either to the dance floor or the bar by now.
You wrangle open the door and then trip and almost fall as you stumble across the threshold. You’re still bracing for an impact that never comes, because someone’s caught you mid-stumble.
“Easy there. Are you alright?”
