Summary
Ramona’s night would probably be going better if she wasn’t in love with her best friend and watching said best friend flirt with Stacey fucking Mallory on her dead grandfather’s couch.
Ramona glances back towards the cottage. “Your date’s probably looking for you. You should head back.”
Oona blinks in surprise. “What? She’s fine. I’m here with you right now.”
“Are you?” Ramona has no idea what she’s playing at but the bewildered expression on Oona’s face only seems to egg her on. “I mean you barely said two words to me tonight until now.”
“Ramona I…” Oona starts to defend herself before Ramona watches the realization slowly settle across her face. And then her mouth curves upward. “Oh.” She says it softly.

Author Edit: First draft originally published Aug 10 but have since added 2000+ words as of Sept 16, changed the dock scene completely, made it spicy, and fleshed out the narrative a bit more! (Got self conscious after a few readers said this fic was making the rounds on Twitter so I had to step up my game)

"You can still touch me, if you want..." She left the sentence hanging and I almost choked on my saliva.
"I mean, without taking the clothes off, if it's not a problem." She shrugged slightly, while a vague embarrassment materialized on her face.
"Are you sure?" I whispered, moving my face closer to hers and letting the tips of our noses graze.

Summary
A click. A latch slip. A gust of hot, summer wind spilling into Ramona’s room. Ramona jackknifed; her book fell into her lap, joint limp between her teeth.
“Oh my God,” she said, “you know it’s, like, three in the morning?”
Oona fingered the windowpane and grinned, half-wedged between the glass and the frame. Her silhouette was striking in the moonlight, all dark.
“Aw, baby. Not happy to see me?”
Oona visits Ramona in the night.

“Don’t you want to talk about it?”
“No, actually,” Oona snapped, and there it was, that painted-on smile. “Best to not. I mean, we both know what we’re here for, right?”
When she met her eyes, the façade slipped. She brushed a strand of Ramona’s hair behind her ear. Ramona knew it for what it was immediately—cruelty. Too easy to fall into, too hard to tell if it was real. She wondered if Oona meant any of it.
She took the joint back.
“I guess we do.”
Ramona returns to Manhattan tomorrow; Oona isn’t ready to let her leave.

Summary
Gordon had always worried about Ramona.
Not in the ordinary way that a grandfather worries for his grandchild, or a father worries about his daughter. Although he did worry about scraped knees and how many vegetables she was eating too. The thing that worried him most, was how good she was at being alone. It was easier in the summer not to think about any of it. In the summer there was Sterling Point, and there was Ellis, and for two months a year Gordon watched something in Ramona relax that never quite relaxed the rest of the time.
And then, when Ramona was eleven and arriving at Sterling Point for the summer, there was Oona.or,
Gordon's perspective of Ramona and Oona slowly falling in love, etc.
