Summary
He shouldn't have trusted a complete stranger, still there was always something familiar about you. Not familiar like some neighbor he once had or a person he passed by on the street — Familiar like his blurry reflection in a foggy bathroom mirror. You understand more than he wishes you did. It doesn't simply feel like you peeled off every facet of him, but that you left him naked in the open and hosed him down with freezing water. It's appalling, how much he enjoys it all.

“I’m a God fearing man, sweetness. I believe in doing things the right way, the way the Good Book intended,” he mutters, thumb lingering on your knuckle where the wedding ring kisses. “Ain’t right for a man and woman to be together without the blessin’ of the Lord and the State.”

Summary
“The nights are getting colder,” you call out to him from the empty classroom with the door wide open—he takes a single, unamused look at you and gets back to smashing padlocks.
“Mhm. You’re just a sissy.”
You find that tragedy can make you friends with the worst guy ever, who's actually not that bad, all things considered.
